Above the Fray is a first of its kind program, proactively addressing the numerous issues young people face online, like sexting, social media, cyber bullying, gaming, and more. Our goal is to educate parents and teachers about what life is really like online for young people, and to give adults the tools they need to begin meaningful dialogues at home and at school. Our tangible, grounded, and easy to understand program is based largely on the startling findings from our Above The Fray youth focus groups, led by Dr. Shawna Malvini Redden, PhD.

The counselors from the high school will be on campus on January 29th and 30th, presenting to our 8th graders about high school course selection. They'll explain the high school graduation requirements, elective offerings, and college and career pathways. Our students will receive guidance on how to sign up for their freshman classes. On January 31st, at 6:00 pm, the high school will be hosting our 8th grade parents in the high school cafeteria to present this information to parents and answer any questions you might have.

Free math tutoring is now offered at HJH on Mondays and Tuesdays immediately after school in Room 2, and the tutoring runs for one hour. An HJH teacher will facilitate the after school math help. This is a great opportunity for students to get the extra math help they need! We are very excited to be able to offer this to our students.

Dear HUSD Community,
As your local school district, we are deeply committed to providing a high quality education to the children of Healdsburg. During times of crises, such as what we are experiencing now, we recognize the calming effect and value that normal daily routines could bring. However, we must also hold student and staff safety paramount in our decision-making. Attached is a letter from the Sonoma County School's Superintendent, Dr. Steve Herrington, outlining the precautions schools must consider regarding closures. CLICK HERE
Keeping safety as our primary focus, the Healdsburg Unified School District plans to resume classes and normal schedules on Tuesday, October 17th. We are hopeful that conditions will be safe for our staff and students and look forward to greeting them once again on Tuesday.
Until then, I strongly encourage you to follow the City of Healdsburg and Sonoma County Sheriff's Office on Nixle to stay current on the latest developments in our area. Please take every precaution to ensure the safety of you and your family.
Sincerely,
Chris Vanden Heuvel, Superintendent

Sinceramente,
Chris Vanden Heuvel, Superintendente
